The meaning behind BKTN:
“Be Kinder Than Necessary” is a phrase my daughter, Brielle, lived by. She would also say, “Everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.” Brielle fought her own battle for years, yet she made sure those around her were happy, doing well, smiling, laughing, having fun, and, most of all, feeling loved. Brielle’s contagious laugh and vibrant energy made you want to be around her gentle, comforting soul. Every time Brielle and I were out and about together, I remember being in awe and so proud of her because she would compliment someone every time to see them smile! Even if she was having one of her dark days.
On June 30th, 2021, Brielle lost her battle with mental health, and we are left to keep her beautiful and inspiring spirit alive. The proceeds of the BKTN donations go to helping individuals in our community battling mental health while spreading awareness and working to end the stigma attached to mental health and the shame so many survivors of sexual assault feel.
Brielle left this world too soon, but she impacted so many people she interacted with. We will continue to ensure her legacy and message stay alive and important.
Hugs & Peace to all~

Heather started the BKTN (Be Kinder Than Necessary) Foundation to continue her daughter, Brielle's, legacy. Brielle lived by this quote, and Heather will do her best to continue talking openly about mental health, sexual assault, and suicide awareness. She hopes that by starting this foundation the community can begin to normalize these conversations so individuals can seek help without experiencing the shame and stigma that is so often attached to these issues.
"Being kind to others around you is free and easy to do. You never know how a smile, a "hello", or a "how are you?" can change someone's mindset if they are having a tough day. This cause is very dear to my heart. I just want to help the people of our community any way I can.”

“We all face challenging battles daily, so showing kindness to those we meet is a simple yet powerful gesture. It has the potential not only to brighten someone else's day but also uplift us. The BKTN message helps us remember the significance of being kind to others as well as to ourselves. Kindness and positivity create a profound ripple effect that can start with you.”
